Department, whose original name was the Department of tractors and cars, created under the proposal for the establishment of the Faculty of Agriculture Mechanization in 1952. This department covers the whole issue of motor vehicles, including subjects with problems of traffic theory, traffic engineering, logistics and others. The Department also guarantees study program Road and City Automobile Transport. Scientific research activity was initially focused on combustion engines, biofuels and strengthening agricultural soils. In recent times, in scientific research activities of the department focused on the issues of ecology, economy motor vehicle and traffic safety. The Department also institutionally, spatially and materially sponsored project "CZU Prague Formula Racing" in the global competition for university students "Formula Student / SAE". Its aim is to enable talented students to experience during their studies to implement ambitious project in the form of design, building and racing a formula car.
