The original name of the department, used since its inception in 1952 until 1994, the Department of Tractor Fleet Utilization, since 1994, then Department of machine utilization. In the educational field, the department guarantees in addition to traditional courses focusing on exploiting, designing and managing machinery operations also subjects with a focus on technique and technology of the landfill and waste management. At the same time the department is the guarantor of commerce and business with technology. The Department has very good cooperation with farms and companies engaged in the production and sale of agricultural machinery and municipal waste collection. For these businesses provide workers testing of machines and optimization projects addressing waste collection routes of the individual components of municipal waste, as well as optimizing the structure of production and manufacturing technology. Very important is the cooperation with the Association of growers and processors of oilseeds at both counseling and education, and at the level of technological experiments. The structure of the research activity is focused on the technological problems of crop production and the use of mobile machinery in agriculture and construction, effects of time factor on production quality and harvest losses, application of modern information technology, precision engineering and technological systems in crop production, objectification per capita fuel consumption agriculture and technology for the use of biodegradable waste.
