Students can be granted financial support in the form of a scholarship. This includes appreciation for good grades, out-of-school activities, as well as support for studies abroad, doctoral scholarships, assistance if student’s encounter difficult situations and social and accommodation scholarships. The criteria for granting scholarships are governed by the terms of the Scholarship Rules.
Only the agenda of social and accommodation scholarships is handled by the university management; other scholarships are within the competences of individual faculties.
Social Scholarship
You can apply for a scholarship at the study department of your home faculty/institute if you are studying within the standard period of study (3 years for bachelor's programs, 2 years for master's programs, 3-4 years for doctoral programs).
The student must demonstrate their eligibility with an application and a written confirmation issued by the state social support authority, stating that the family's income, as determined for the purpose of child allowance for the third calendar quarter of the year, did not exceed the product of the family’s subsistence minimum amount and a coefficient of 1.5. The student must submit this confirmation no later than one month after its issuance, but no later than December 31 of the relevant calendar year.
The confirmation "Statement for the Purpose of Granting a Scholarship" is issued to the student upon request by the relevant state social support office at the student's permanent residence.
Only students who receive child allowances from the Czech state are eligible for the social scholarship. A student can claim the scholarship for a specific period only once.
If there is a change in the amount of the child allowance during the academic year, the student must report this change to the study department of their home faculty or the rectorate's study department and provide an updated confirmation.
Accommodation scholarship
You are entitled to an accommodation scholarship if you are studying full-time, are not studying at another university (where you commenced your studies), did not exceed the determined study time (three years for bachelor studies, two years for master studies and two years for doctoral studies), you do not live where you are studying or you are on a study visit abroad (in this case this also applies to distance studies).
It is necessary to apply for this scholarship electronically in the UIS. In the “My studies” agenda in the “Student’s Portal” link you will find the “Accommodation benefit application” form. Before sending the application, it is necessary to enter the account number for the payment of the scholarship in the “Bank accounts” option.
The application is valid during the entire period of the study programme.
The accommodation scholarship is paid retroactively for the past three months: in January (for the period from October to December), in April (for the period from January to March) and in July (for the period from April to June). No scholarship is paid for the period from July to September.
Conditions for granting accommodation scholarships are contained in the CZU Scholarship Rules
